The Stroke Association of Kenya (SAoK) held a productive collaborative meeting with the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) to explore joint initiatives in advancing stroke awareness, prevention, and response.
This meeting follows the successful Step-Up for Stroke Walk and Awareness Campaign held in July 2025, which marked a significant milestone in community engagement and public education on stroke. Building upon that momentum, SAoK and KMTC convened to discuss practical ways of working together in the upcoming World Stroke Day celebrations on 29th October 2025.
During the meeting, both institutions agreed on a collaborative framework that will see KMTC provide a team of students to support the World Stroke Day event. These students will not only assist in organizing and managing the activities of the day but will also gain valuable hands-on experience in stroke awareness, prevention, and patient engagement — bridging classroom learning with real-world community health practice.
The discussion also opened doors for long-term collaboration, including future awareness campaigns, community outreach initiatives, and professional training opportunities aimed at strengthening Kenya’s response to stroke and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
Speaking after the meeting, representatives from both organizations expressed optimism about the partnership, noting that such collaborations are essential in building a health-conscious society and nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals.
As we move closer to World Stroke Day 2025, the Stroke Association of Kenya remains committed to uniting partners, institutions, and communities under the shared goal of reducing the burden of stroke and promoting healthier living across the nation.
